Accessible Site-Built Homes

What is a Homes for Life site-built home?

A Homes for Life site-built home is custom-built with all the design features you want and need for full accessibility and aesthetic appeal.

It’s constructed from the ground up on your lot.

A Homes for Life site-built home is often the best choice when you want a home with complex roof lines, artistic influences or a larger square footage. Our Legacy Home plan is an example of our site-built accessible homes.

The expert advice and trusted guidance we provide by presenting the facts about your current and future needs – obtained from personal, in-depth healthcare assessments by our professional partners – and discussing options based on your preferences distinguishes us from conventional site builders, who are not equipped to provide these kinds of advisory services.

CUSTOMIZATION

Accessible modular homes can be fully customized. However, complex roof lines, artistic influences and large sizes can drive up costs for construction and transportation, making modular less feasible in rare cases.

Accessible site-built homes can be fully customized. However, since national builders do not build custom homes, clients work with local or regional Homes for Life.

LABOR

Labor is readily available since reliable, high-quality carpenters, plumbers, electricians and tile setters are employed full time at the factory by the modular manufacturer.

Traditionally, labor can be unpredictable, which can cause budgets and schedules to slip. Because of current labor shortages in the trades, it is often difficult to find reliable, high-quality carpenters, plumbers, electricians, tile setters and other tradespeople. In some cases, especially in rural areas, the site builder may not know the local crews constructing the home. However, because Homes for Life uses only vetted, certified builders, issues like these are not concerns.

PROCESS

Accessible modular homes, built in a controlled factory setting on a jig that is perfectly square, ensure consistently high-quality construction.

Accessible site-built homes are subject to inclement weather during construction.

COSTS

Since customization decisions are made before the home is manufactured, costs are more predictable, change orders happen infrequently, and the client knows the exact price upfront.

Costs are less predictable since customization decisions can continue while the home is under construction. Homes for Life helps clients manage this closely.
